Title : Dimakatso Makhetha - Director
Name and surname : Dimakatso Makhetha
Ms Dimakatso V Makhetha (Comrade Dimakatso) holds a Diploma in Business Management, obtained South West Gauteng College in 2001. She is in the process of completing her Chartered Governance Institute of South Africa (CGISA), which she is studying part-time juggling union activism, her work and most importantly, mothering her children into responsible citizens. Ms Makhetha is due to sit for her two outstanding Modules of Advanced Financial Accounting and Principles of Business Law during May 2024.

Cde Dimakatso joined the public service approximately 20 years ago, and chose the Union of Choice during an employment stint at South West College, prior to joining the Department of Transport in 2006. She re-awakened the proverbial “sleeping giant” of PSA at the Department, collectively with comrades who have since either left the employ of her department or have deservedly secured senior positions within. At the time the most recent PSA Annual General Meeting called her to serve in the Board, she was duly serving her Branch as its elected Chairperson.

Currently, she is responsible for office management and administration at the Public Entity Oversight at the Department, which she joined subsequent to performing similar responsibilities at the Chief Directorate: Internal Audit & Forensic Investigation. Both environments are pivotal to good governance (institutional, corporate and financial) and have exposed Cde Dimakatso to governance in general, and to compliance and enforcement.

Lastly, she is an avid reader, a team player, a servant leader and an aspiring Corporate Governance practitioner. She values the opportunity the PSA has presented her to symbiotically contribute to providing leadership, whilst extending her horizons and navigating this new workers’ struggle terrain. She will strive to avoid pitfalls or trappings which often come with perceived “power”, which she has witnessed.
